Patterns of small recessional lateral moraines on the east bank of Nisqually Glacier at an altitude of about 6,400 feet (1,950 meters) are evident, looking up-glacier from station 12. The patterns suggest that, at times, the recession progressed in a discontinuous manner, as in successive small steps interrupted by slight advances.
