Abstract

Major glaciation in the Sierra Nevada of California resulted in the deposition of till which underlies latite 2.7 x 106 years old and overlies andesite 3.1 x 106 years old. This till, herein called the Deadman Pass till, is the oldest Pleistocene glacial deposit that has been found in temperate latitudes.
